When high school students consider who they will request to homecoming at that time of year.
Of course, graduation has become quite the generation these times, and can be expensive. One person from Metro Detroit founded the Sparkle Network to distribute prom dresses to senior high school students and freshmen.
Moe Lietz founded the Sparkle Network ten years ago. After seeing its progress, she wanted to help make the graduation knowledge more affordable.
” I helped a friend with her child, and that’s when I actually saw how the price had really blown up– and it was ridiculous expensive”, Lietz said.
The average price of a prom dress then averages around$ 450-$ 550, according to Lietz. But it’s more than merely the dress: Some worry about paying for their fingers, hair, beauty, and more.
” It’s also the ticket to go prom” that’s pricey for some, Lietz said.
Through the Sparkle Network, Lietz collects brand-new or similar prom dresses to provide away during the prom time throughout the year. She claims to have about 1, 000 garments in boxes all year long.
Therefore, this time of year, she begins her prom closet project tour, which involves lugging the items all over Metro Detroit to the high school students.
” I absolutely travel every day”, Lietz said.
She opens her store at nearby businesses, and she offers her tale try-on knowledge to teenagers who have already signed up for an appointment. The youth get a clothing, jewelry, bags, also scarves so they can have that night to remember, feeling stunning in a special prom dress.
” For quite a few years, it was the moms]who] cried, specifically for elders, because it’s the last dress before their wedding dress”, Lietz said. ” The last few years, I’ll have to say it’s more of the kids crying, because they did n’t think he could go… the money was standing in the way”.
Lietz claims she travels throughout Macomb County, starting in Downriver and moving further northeast.
Although Lietz will be there this weekend, appointments have already been made for that site. She is, nevertheless, heading to next year.
