Ruth Helwig is a member of Mount Pleasant’s Zonta membership. The Zonta membership is a global firm whose objectives are to promote improved health for women and girls and to end sexual assault and violence.

Helwig noted that Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe people have occasionally vanished or been murdered. She said that community members are also dealing with those people ‘ costs.

Helwig said it’s crucial to identify their stories and inform the entire neighborhood that this is a problem both among indigenous people and those in our society as well.

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe’s Vicitim Services system is managed by Jalene Lewis, who is the Tribe’s Chief Vicitim Services Coordinator.

Red is associated with our essence, symbolizes power, and represents violence, according to Lewis, in a variety of ways.

According to Lewis, the dresses that are collected may be hanging and have signs explaining their significance in addition to data.

” The garments are symbolic, so there’s no particular type of clothing we’re looking for”, Helwig said. The concept is to be appropriate for all female sizes and shapes.

Up until the middle of May, Red Dress displays will be on display throughout the neighborhood.

On May 2, a museum and speech event at Art Reach Mid Michigan, located at 111 E. Broadway St., will take place from 5 to 6: 30 p.m. on May 2. The show may work through May 7 from April 29.
