There are probably three groups of students attending high school proms: those who are undoubtedly planning to attend, those who are uninterested in attending, and those who would like to attend but ca n’t afford all the amenities of what prom is known for: a lavish, fashionable affair.
Main Street Corner Thrifts, Gifts and More’s business manager, Cass Healy, has been working to close the gap between that last party and ensure that students can get the necessary clothes and freebies so they can enjoy the springtime event because well.
” Last month, I had started holding Prom Occasions here at the store where I had charge students to enter and get out a prom dress in order to attend graduation. I also collaborated with a few schools, which gave us the opportunity to import some to help the students to examine the dresses. We are having the same celebration this season, with a few new incentives”, Healy said to The Batavian. ” At ( this year’s ) store event, we will be having a couple of hundred dresses, suits, makeup and other accessories out for the students to pick from. We will also be raffling off product cards for those who need assistance purchasing items for graduation, and we will be drawing for free graduation cards with the help of the Ministry of Concern, which has established bottles for” Coins for Prom” in local stores.
A makeup designer will also be present to give advice on how to do their beauty for the big day, she said. People of Orleans County are not the only ones who can attend this event. It is also available to Genesee County kids.
She just provided prom dresses to 18 women who needed them to the School for the Blind in Batavia by taking a number of clothes to the class for the deaf. On request, Headaly stated that she is willing to bring clothes to any college area in Genesee County.
What makes her would it?
” One special child we had last year was able to find a dress, shoes, jewelry, and all her beauty and mane needs taken care of through us. She had informed me that she had won tickets, but according to her family’s financial situation, she did not think that she would be able to come,” Healy said”. She had frequently expressed her gratitude and was very excited to be able to come and practice this. She had even sent us some pictures of her with her friends at graduation. Truly one of those’ this is why I do this’ events.”
Her function runs from 6 to 8 p. m. Tuesday at 131 S. Main St., Albion, and is open to students beyond Orleans County. It will be a fun evening with complimentary prom dresses, suit, equipment, and hair and makeup ideas.
I’m hoping to get in touch with more students in any of the nearby counties this year. No matter what financial situation they may be in,” I think everyone should be able to enjoy prom.” So here at Main Street Corner Thrifts, Gifts and More, we are always accepting dresses, suits, shoes, makeup, hair supplies and other accessories for these events. We advise the community to check their closets for prom-appropriate attire and bring it in by the store to aid in the development of these memorable memories.
