MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — A South Carolina woman was arrested after police said she was involved in an altercation with her wife at their home and lit her clothes on fire.
Dalana Janeca Davenport, 43, of Myrtle Beach is charged with domestic violence second-degree and arson third-degree.
Myrtle Beach Police responded to a disturbance call on 62nd Avenue North on Monday.
According to the incident report, the victim, who is married to Davenport, said she was drinking heavily when she returned home and started yelling about “nothing in particular.” The victim told Davenport she was going to leave and call the police.
Davenport reportedly grabbed the victim’s phone to prevent her from calling the police. The report said Davenport then slammed the victim on the floor, stormed out of their home and did not come back.
The victim said during the altercation she smelled something burning but did not know what it was. She later went upstairs and found her clothing and a table in the guest bedroom burning, the report read. The victim claimed Davenport lit the clothes in the hamper on fire which was on top of a wooden table.
Police reported that the victim’s neck was red and had a small scratch.
Online records state Davenport remains incarcerated at J Reuben Long Detention Center.
