The initial G&L by Jerry Cantrell, the basis for almost every famous Alice in Chains tracking, has been taken.
According to a blog published to Cantrell’s standard Instagram, the traditional Rampage ‘ Blue Dress ‘ tool is believed to have been stolen from the guitarist’s vehicles in either Los Angeles or San Bernardino/Highland.
The guitar has the sequential number G016467 and was kept in a dark G&L. Anyone with information on the location of the harp should call [email protected] if they wish to call the post.
” We’re offering a reward to anyone who can assist us find the guitar”, the blog concludes. We greatly appreciate your assistance.
One of the most significant guitars in indie is The Rampage, which has the highest social and artistic significance. The G&L was later used on nearly every tune the guitar has ever recorded after being purchased by Cantrell way back in 1985.
The instrument has a distinctive circle-and-square pattern that was inspired by both Randy Rhoads ‘ Polka Dots and Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstein bands and the blue-dressed pinup girl’s sticker beneath the Kahler staccato and is a single-humbucker 1984 G&L Rampage at its base.
On the body are three” Rock” stickers, one of which has severely worn off, and another that reads” This Is Your Life” on the head from a neighborhood radio station that was a proponent of Alice in Stores in the early days.

Recently, the harp was on show at Seattle’s MoPOP Museum. Cantrell discussed the significance of his Blue Dress Rampage during a visit to the exhibit, explaining how it appeared on virtually everything he’s ever recorded, making it one of the most significant guitars in indie history.
” I bought that in 1985″, he recalled. ” That piano has been on anything I’ve ever recorded, pretty little – 98.9 % of every track, that guitar’s on it somewhere. It is still there despite years of attempts by me to destroy it.
I’ve surfed it across the step, jumped in the market, with supporters running up and getting their hair caught in the tips, and then attempted to jump back in the crowd, pulling me…
Due to some structural issues that threatened to severely harm the guitar, Cantrell’s initial G&L was mostly forced into touring retirement. Cantrell replaced it with some Spree renew models that had been produced over the years.
In 2009, G&L reissued the Rampage as a Jerry Cantrell unique model, which arrived without Cantrell’s more style. As part of an extremely limited run, a more accurate copy of the Blue Dress G&L had also been made.
” It’s zero expensive. There’s lots of fancier, cooler guitars, but it’s just a meat and potatoes guitar,” Cantrell told Total Guitar in 2014″, and that’s generally felt secure for me to sing from the get- come.”
In the midst of the media, G&L has offered to create Cantrell a new piano that did” help ease the pain” of losing the” unique “instrument.
