Deiji Studios was established in 2016 with the intention to blur the distinctions between sleeping and sleeping. The Aussie brand succeeded: its luxurious linen creations drape rather than wrinkle, just like your favourite sheets. Atelier MNK is the new Australian clothing brand you need to know, based in Sydney and run by a sister duo Milly and Kobe Kan. This slow fashion label focuses on creating easy-to-wear staples that bypass the trend cycle, made from organic and sustainably-sourced fabrics (and when they’re not using natural fibres, they’re prioritising recycled materials). We love how collections centre around co-ords that can be mixed and matched to create multiple styling options.

Brother and sister duo Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman launched their namesake brand 20 years ago, debuting at Australian Fashion Week in 2003. Still based in Sydney, the womenswear brand has gone from strength to strength since, opening 17 stores across Australia and securing stockists such as Harrods and Selfridges in the UK. Marc and Camilla’s USP is easy-to-wear (and equally as easy to style) pieces with a directional spin – think versatile tailoring and sculptural separates meshed with sports- and streetwear elements.

Spell was born in 2009 when sisters Isabella and Elizabeth moved to Byron Beach together and started to sell their handmade clothing in local markets. Fast forward 14 years, and the Boho brand has stockists like Free People and Revolve on a global scale.

Their parents, a potter and a craftsman, who lived as hippies in the 1970s, are inspired by their grandparents who fled the war-torn Latvian to land in an Australian refugee camp, and their family history is richly illustrated in campaign imagery. In 1991, sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann established their own label. Amelia Mather, the founder of Boteh, is a woman who enjoys taking chances. She launched a resortwear brand in the middle of a pandemic in October 2020 ( when no- one was travelling or even buying clothes! ) and recently relocated to Ibiza with her family ( she really embodies the brand’s nomad vibes ).

These uncertainties have been overcome. Boteh is phenomenally successful – not just in her homeland of Australia but globally, too. We’ve grown to love the label because of its boho silhouettes, louche linens, and light cotton fabrics, as well as its in-house-designed prints and swimwear.

Oroton, Australia’s oldest luxury fashion brand, was established in Sydney in 1938. The company began as a textile exporter, but it soon branched out into fashion design, creating metal mesh bags in the 1950s that later became chainsand paillettes and chainsandtuffs like Gianni Versace and Paco Rabanne.

The brand’s current creative director Sophie Holt revived Oroton in 2018, introducing new sustainable goals and switching up its aesthetic.
