ELKHORN CITY, Ky. ( WYMT )- Pike County Girl Scout Troop 411 invites students to ‘ Say Yes to the Dress.’
In 2020, the army launched its community service project, which raised money to fund a completely formal use giveaway.
Girl Scout Olivia Sykes, praised the occasion as” a really great community event where everyone comes together and supports these girls.”
The second event kicked off Saturday, bringing more than 250 garments to Elkhorn City Elementary School. Administrators say it has been a labor of love to find clothes, shoes, suit, and equipment for individuals who may not normally have access.
A couple of women left with a clothing and accessories for a night to remember, according to Troop Leader Diana Sykes, who claims they spent time perusing the products Saturday night.
You knew it when she created the ideal outfit for her. She said,” Her mouth showed it, and that was worth all the effort.”
The Girl Scouts claim that having their society back throughout the project is heartwarming, but the true happiness is seeing a child find the dress of her goals in their closets.
” Seeing all the women find their perfect gown and seeing their faces only light up, it’s thus amazing”, said Olivia. To witness that they eventually experience the same stage where they dress up and act like princesses.
The event’s individuals and donors, according to those involved, are making a big impact on the kids.
” It’s amazing that people and families donate things they’ve already spent a lot of money on themselves just so someone else can have the same experience,” said Diana.
The freebie continues Sunday, from 11 a. m. until 3 p. m. in the class auditorium. Anyone in need is welcome to drop by to find the ideal fit, according to the army.
” Then that’s what we tell everyone. We’re here all day- come search, try on as many as you need to. We want to ensure that you discover the ideal outfit,” Diana said.
