ECO MINDED: For the holiday gathering time, Phoebe English, a London architect known for her strangely intimate creations, has collaborated with Kentucky-based whiskey maker Maker’s Mark on an upcycled capsule.
The eight-piece collection consists of a dress, shirt, T-shirt, pair of pants, vest, coat, scarf, and handbag. They are made with a combination of upcycled clothes such as T-shirts, deadstock plaid, occasion party use, and deceasedstock wools and are only produced on an restricted made-to-order basis.
The Maker’s Mark factory Star Hill Farm, where nature is protected and respected through restorative agriculture, green initiatives like zero landfill waste, renewable energy warehouses, and the first LEED-certified whiskey cellar in the world, served as the inspiration for the pieces.
According to English,” The collection is deliberately functional so that it can be styled up or down to meet into existing outfits and across specific models.”
” I’m thrilled to work with Maker’s Mark, and I’ve enjoyed learning about their broad and long-standing work in considered crops, enhancing liquid health and biodiversity regeneration.” She continued,” My hope is that this project can reach people to demonstrate that clothing can endure beyond a single use, purpose, or season.
At 149 Shoreditch High Street, a special pop-up called the ( Re ) Made to Party Boutique and Bar will be open from Thursday to Saturday. Before having their custom-made part delivered to customers in time for the holiday time, consumers who wish to purchase an item will have it measured in people.
Additionally, on-site stylists will be available for free upgrades and mends during the pop-up. A clothing payment banks may be established in Love Not Landfill, a nonprofit that encourages fast fashion consumers to get used, switch, recycle, and donate clothing to charity.
Maker’s Mark chose to collaborate on a style project because it felt “responsible for the way we influence our shared culture,” according to Neil Skinner, marketing chairman of Edrington UK, the company that is its parent company. The largest whiskey factory in the world to obtain B Corp qualification and the first to do so is Maker’s Mark.
Through our partnership with Phoebe English, a custom extremely dedicated to her conservation goal, we are thrilled to reinforce our commitment to the world and the people beyond Star Hill Farm.
