Former American fashion mogul Peter Nygard was found guilty of four matters of sexual abuse by a Toronto judge on Sunday, according to CBC News on November 12.
Nygard, 82, was facing charges of forced captivity and five counts of sexual assault in connection with alleged events that occurred between the 1980s and the middle of the 2000s in the Ontario Superior Court. He was found not guilty on one matter of forced confinement and five counts of sexual assault.
Nygard was detained by French police in later 2020 at American demand. Since 1995, he has been charged with using his companies to entice women and girls in the US, Canada, and the Bahamas in order to satisfy his own and his coworkers ‘ sexual desires. About a year later, Toronto police filed their individual claims against him.
Nygard, who was born in Finland but raised in Manitoba, later ran his predecessor clothing company and rose to prominence as one of Canada’s wealthiest individuals.
