Supermodel Naomi Campbell has unveiled a new fashion line introducing clothing with an antibacterial finish, as revealed on a morning segment of National Public Radio in America. Her collection for the fashion label Hugo Boss showcases pieces with an antibacterial quality, referencing Campbell’s infamous germophobia.
Collaborating with a German business, Campbell has curated a 40-piece clothing range, encompassing a variety of styles from tailored suits to casual sweatpants inspired by her own lifestyle. In a recent interview, Campbell expressed that these pieces, characterised by constant movement, express a readiness for new adventures without compromising on style.
She insisted that double-breasted jackets and matching trousers be crafted from stretch-infused wool with an anti-wrinkle finish during the design phase.
The collection also features form-fitting black leggings with coordinating long-sleeve tops inspired by Campbell’s preference for compression wear during travel to aid circulation. Additionally, the blazers and waistcoats include pockets lined with a special fabric designed to block electromagnetic frequencies and prevent contactless card fraud.
This venture into fashion design is not Campbell’s first; she received mixed comments in 2023 for her partnership with the fast fashion brand PrettyLittleThing (PLT), a subsidiary of the British company Boohoo Group, on an 82-piece collection. Known for her status in the modeling industry during the 1980s and 1990s, Campbell will be the subject of an exhibition titled “Naomi” at the V&A in June, marking the first time a model will be featured in an exhibition at the museum.
