After wearing a dress that some claimed resembled a bridal gown, a bride-of-the-bride has sparked a controversy online.
Beverly Norberg may have outdone Sydney Marie Slavens on her big day, despite the fact that it was n’t her intention. The 28-year-old shared wonderful moments with her mother before the wedding on Instagram by posting a carousel of videos from her.
Slavens, an Orlando-based wedding photojournalist, donned a modern, square-neck Ines Di Santo silk gown, while Norberg wore a strapless, child blue Nadia Manjarrez dress with decorative detailing and ruching.
Speaking to, Norberg admitted she tried on 30 clothes before she, her father, her brother, and of course, her child agreed the satin dress was the one. Slavens believed the dress to have the proper balance of drama and texture for her mother, and that is when she had the final say.
The wife told Nowadays:” I’m all about consistency”.
As a wedding photojournalist, Slavens knew the dress would shine in the pictures, complimenting her dress the correct number. More than that, Norberg had been Slavens ‘” things blue”, a long-standing marriage service history.
Unfortunately, the internet did n’t review of Norberg’s gown, with readers flocking to Slavens ‘ ceremony article, filling the page with queries about the mother-of-the-bride’s dress. Finally, Slavens deleted the movies due to the unavoidable hate her mother had received.
The people assumed Norberg was trying to outshine her child, according to Now. ” It’s beautiful. But too much. The wedding should have the sole well dress”, one person wrote on the now-deleted article. ” Mom appears to be getting married or attending prom.”
Another added:” Was confused at second? Two wives? I think sister’s dress is a wedding gown. Why though”?
” To hard to tell who the wife is”, somebody else wrote.
in a follow-up article, acknowledging the backlash. Instagram was captioned” In an outcry over my wonderful momma” next to a picture of her mother on her wedding day.
This time, people praised Norberg’s appearance. They made the right choice if it brought happiness to the whole community. One person said that those who did n’t like it had the option to leave.
Another bride’s family chose a stunning dress that looks best on her, the bride-to-be remarked. And the wife is gorgeous”.
In discussion with Now, Norberg reflected on the old-school build of having the mother-of-the-bride and the girls wear an understated clothing, so the wedding is the focus.
She admitted:” There’s this conventional notion that the mother-of-the-bride needs to look shapely with longer arms and covered arms, and the whole business centers around that”.
Slavens has contacted The Independent for remark.
