Megan Fox is known for experimenting with her personal style now, but exploring her identity through clothing — especially in the public eye — wasn’t always easy for the star.
In conversation with WWD, the Pretty Boys Are Poisonous author, 37, admitted that she “had a weird relationship with fashion” as she garnered more attention from her career.
“For so long I was rejecting being famous and rejecting whatever this image was that was sort of hung on me, this person I was supposed to be,” said Fox, who became a bombshell beauty after Transformers (in which she plays Mikaela Banes) was released in 2007.
The actress explained that, “for a long time, I ran from fashion and lived in nothing but sweatpants or workout clothes and never wanted to express myself.” She also found herself “really suffering with that existential question of, ‘well, who am I?’”
But, as of late, she’s “rediscovered” what aesthetics resonate with her the most and is rocking them the way she wants to.
“Especially right now, I’m going through all these different phases of like, ‘what do I like and what can I wear that expresses how I’m feeling or what do I want or what I want to say in this moment?’ I’m learning to use fashion in a way that reflects who I am now,” she told WWD.
Fox’s newfound openness to exploring her multidimensional style has revealed itself in her most recent looks.
Earlier this month, she decided to ditch her ginger bosom-length hair (previously dark brunette) in exchange for a chic fiery red blunt bob, just in time for the release of her debut poetry book, which became a New York Times bestseller.
Throughout the press tour for her latest project, Fox also rocked a variety of on-trend brown outfits — like the mini-shorts suit she teamed with red stilettos and an olive green trench coat while in New York City — that emanated boss energy.

She’s also sported plenty of sexy date-night ensembles for her outings with fiancé Machine Gun Kelly.
At the GQ Men of the Year Party on Nov. 16, the two wore monochromatic ‘fits in contrasting colorways, proving that sometimes opposites do attract.
Fox appeared elegant in a body-hugging white minidress, featuring an asymmetrical hemline, by Mugler. She paired the designer number with 2000s-style accessories, such as a clear mini handbag and her see-through acrylic pointed heels with diamond-encrusted straps.
MGK (whose real name is Colson Baker) went with a grunge-forward option, wearing an oversize dark leather jacket, wide-legged leather pants and matching leather boots. He appeared to wear a black fishnet tee inside the jacket with several chunky silver chains and earrings.
