Toronto- A little bit of Specific is returning to Canada.
Hudson’s Bay announced Friday that it will start stocking the U. S. company’s children’s clothing manufacturer Cat & Jack in its division stores and online on March 14.
Cat & Jack sells clothing for children under the age of 12 for as little as$ 7 and as much as$ 35. Its collection of clothing includes tank heads, T- shirts, pants, pants and dresses.
Its presence in Hudson’s Bay stores marks the first time the company has been offered online or through a site other than Target’s stores.
Hudson’s Bay did not provide an interview with the statement, but it appears that the partnership aims to save money on daily purchases for customers who are fed up with inflation, which has caused them to spend more.
” Now more than ever families are looking for fashionable and durable clothing that is also economical for their people”, Liz Rodbell, president and chief executive of Hudson’s Bay, in a press release.
” We’re listening to our customers and are very focused on providing an assortment that is pertinent and reflects what American families are looking for,” said one customer.
Simply under two years after Target announced in January 2015 that it would shut its 133 French stores and lay off about 17,600 workers, Cat & Jack made its debut in Hudson’s Bay shops about ten years later.
” Just put, we were losing money every day”, Target’s chief executive Brian Cornell said, when the leave announcement was made.
On Friday, the company was much more passionate about the business. Target is “pleased” to work with Hudson’s Bay as it continues to expand” this formed area of our company”, said Bill Foudy, president of held product sourcing and growth, in the release.
Since its launch in 2016, Cat & Jack has grown rapidly.
According to Jill Sando, it is now a US$ 3- billion company that sells more than 300 million items annually, which is equivalent to roughly eight items of product per child under 12 in the U.S., according to a Tuesday earnings call.
Although this is a discretionary category, Cat & Jack is a brand that Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandiser of clothing and accessories admired for its great prices, great quality, and great design that children adore, Sando said.
It “drives trips and sales across the store” during significant times like back to school and throughout the year as kids get bigger and bigger.
Retail analysts have warned that the apparel industry is “extremely volatile” this year as people switch to products they do n’t believe are necessary to deal with high prices despite the company’s optimism.
McKinsey and Co., a consulting firm, anticipates a year-over-year increase in retail sales of between two and four percent in 2024, which is significantly below the double-digit growth some markets experienced in 2021.
The Canadian Press ‘ first publication of this report was on March 8, 2024.
