Last time, Vogue Runway’s Laia Garcia-Furtado and José Criales-Unzueta gave the trend a try to, it must be said, little success. Up next: sheer clothes. Everyone loves a naked dress (just ask our SEO team), and yes, and gossamer layers sound just right for the summer—but not everyone wants to be so easily…seen. Let’s see how we fare this time around.
José Criales-Unzueta: I love this. It’s so chic. I think what makes it is the nonchalance of the It’s equal parts dressy and risqué, which is what I think makes sheer clothes work too. That and the shirt buttoned all the way up. Lots of great choices!
Laia Garcia-Furtado: Back in the day, I used to have a from American Apparel that I bought on a whim and ended up wearing all the time—it became my closet essential. Then I, um, outgrew it, and I was mourning it until I found this version. This one is slinkier and made of surprisingly sturdy pantyhose-ish material, but I think the best thing about it is that it has that sort of panel around the bust so it’s sheer but also modest.
LGF: This feels very you. It’s so easy breezy beautiful. I mean, the truth is you can’t ever go wrong with a and a cool pair of jeans. They’re classics for a reason.
JCU: I wholeheartedly agree. This is a go-to fit for me, here with a sheer twist. It felt , and the tank top underneath makes it a little easier for everyday. The heftiness of the very wide jeans also plays up the sheerness, which seems like a good contrast.
JCU: I have one thing to say: Brat summer! You ate this.
LGF: BRAT SUMMER! This one’s definitely the “day to night” used to love back in the day—I guess since everyone’s working from home now they don’t really need to transform their outfits in a pinch, haha. I think the exposed underwear—another trend I had never tried before—works here because it’s just a panel of color, no waistbands or seams or anything that outwardly screams UNDERWEAR. And also because… brat summer.
LGF: This is it for me. Diva. Also these little flats of yours are really working with every outfit. Let’s hear a round of applause for them.
