Helping Hand: Elks donate clothes for foster children

It’s the giving season, and in the spirit of giving back to the vulnerable in the community, St. Helens Elks Lodge #1999 has donated clothing to the Department of Human Services (DHS).

Annette Pixley is the Grant Coordinator for the St. Helens Elks, and while exploring opportunities in the St. Helens community, she reached out to DHS and asked what needs they had for children in foster care. 

“The response was absolute – items for teens who come into foster care, many of whom have been removed from their homes with only the clothes they are wearing,” Pixley said. “DHS had no supplies to get kids immediate access to clothing.”
