Prom time is now in full swing thanks to the sparkle and flowing material. It’s every high school kid’s dream—to enter graduation in the perfect outfit, dazzling her day. Some young ladies may struggle to find a clothing, though. That’s where Project Prom comes in.
Project Prom began 18 years ago when leader Jean Richardson made the decision to rehabilitate her sons ‘ worn-out prom dresses. I started it because I had a lot of prom gowns from my sons lying around in my closets and was unsure what to do with them, Jean said. I inquired about a program to give money to girls in need in various high schools, but it was n’t. So I started the programme and began removing my clothes. I gathered plenty of clothes from our neighborhood word-spreading. Every time, it only grew. Over 100 clothes are distributed annually to local high school women.
The system exploded in popularity. I can attest to the project’s successes, in 2014, I got my prom dress from Project Prom ( and still have it somewhere… ) As the project grew, it gained attention from ANB Bank. They sought to take over a job, they said. They were curious about Project Prom. What a blessing”. said Jean. ANB took over the job three years ago, and since then, it has grown always larger, giving out thousands of dresses a month.
How to Choose a Dress for a” Project Prom”
A student’s student Passport from a Wyoming High School is all that is required to get a prom dress. They may drop by any time the Prom is available to choose their outfit.
If you are n’t sure what dress to choose, the volunteers are happy to help. ” The people are beautiful and enjoy helping out”, Jean noted. And before prom, the dresses wo n’t need to be dry cleaned. ” Dresses are cleaned before students pick them up, there should n’t be any tailoring. Everything is in great condition and in the best possible way.
