Christian Siriano has since established himself as one of the most renowned fashion designers in the world with his wonderful win in 2008 on Project Runway. The 38-year-old’s regular users are the ones who most inspire him, despite having worked with everyone from Rihanna to Taylor Swift to Angelina Jolie.
” We’ve dressed every prominent person in the world, and that’s great”, he says,” but my biggest impact is the typical woman who goes into stores and outlets and buys clothing”.
Here, Christian — who’s been dating brother artist Kyle Smith for five times — talks to Life & Style about his renowned and not-so-famous customers, his vision user and his guilty pleasure.
Why do you like your ordinary consumers?
They provide opinions on what the real women’s desires are. We owe it to them, in my opinion. Types of all shapes and sizes are featured in your models and shows.
What significance do you have for diversity?
We do n’t even really think about it anymore. It’s the writer’s job to make sure we have something for all different types of people. I’m surprised that more people are n’t interested in that.
You just partnered with Persil washing detergent. Show us about that.
I only started using Persil, and it’s great for refreshing]clothes]. It really helps to give a sweater a longer lifespan.
What pattern are you currently loving?
I’m also into ballet base. A girl looked so nice when she wore a dancer skirt over jeans and flats.
…and condemning?
I’m delighted the all-day leisure aesthetic is fading. Workout is not the same as athletic training!
Who’s been your favorite celebrity to clothing?
I love dressing Lady Gaga. I’ve dressed her for nearly 13 times today. I made her first TV presence in 2007 for a mad reason! I enjoy wearing people’s dresses to be exciting and fun.
Has everyone made you starstruck?
Madonna is a little intimidating at times. But I don’t actually get starstruck; it’s more like excitement.
Who do you enjoy working with?
Cate Blanchett, because I haven’t dressed her, and I love what she’s doing. She’s re-wearing her beautiful pieces on major red carpets. It’s cool to see that.
Project Runway is also going strong. Why do you think it’s also effective?
It’s fascinating to see people create something from nothing. Actually it’s a level piece of everything, and they turn it into this three-dimensional type. It’s even wonderful to see that young creative individuals have a chance. Who does n’t want that?
What’s been your greatest career lessons?
I’ve stayed true to what I think is important, whether or not everyone on my staff agreed. The decisions I’ve made have ]allowed ] me to be able to dress multiple first ladies and the vice president. So it’s cliché but: Be true to yourself.
New binge watch?
I only finished Season 2 of Hacks. It’s really interesting and really funny. I need to begin Bridgerton, so that’s going to get my point for next week. I’ve even been watching Drag Competition: All Stars – it’s so good!
Most new spend buy?
I bought my daughter a home!
Guilty satisfaction?
Perhaps furniture shopping. I buy a lot of skill and equipment. It’s really expensive, and I do n’t need it. There’s this place called Greenwich Living Design in Connecticut, and it’s really great. The parts are amazing.
Favourite video?
Clueless! As a younger style custom, and as a fresh everyone who loves fashion, Clueless definitely changed the game. It’s fantastic!
Preferred software?
I’m on Instagram because I want people to see what I’m creating, but other than that, I’ve been using my telephone more and more.
