On Nov. 1, local Baton Rouge boutique Marem will be opening a second seasonal storefront in the Mall of Louisiana.
The owners of Marem, Emily and Marlo Rodrigue, are both recent LSU graduates who started their business during the Covid-19 pandemic whilst being online students.
Starting in 2020, Marem opened as an online store selling clothing, accessories, and decor. Since its start, the boutique has been styling and supplying girls across Baton Rouge with outfits for every occasion.
“We sell game day pins like candy over here,” Marlo Rodrigue began. “If someone comes in and they have a top or a bottom and they’re looking for something to complete their game day outfit, we love to help them with that.”
The pandemic prompted the two women’s fashion creativity and drove them to open Marem. The name of the store is a combination of their two names: Marlo and Emily.
“We were just so bored, like literally bored out of our minds,” Emily says. “We didn’t know if school was starting again. So we were like, you know what? Let’s start a clothing store.”
The two owners pride themselves on customer interaction.
“Me and Marlo are both people people,” Emily says, “We love girls and we love college girls. Like they’re our jam you know? That’s why we opened this store. To be with them.”
From November through the end of January, Marem will be opening its second location in the Mall of Louisiana selling gifts, dresses, holiday sweaters and accessories.
