An effort is under way to collect winyter coats and other clothing for people across Marquette County who are in need.

The effort wass spearheaded by Anna Dravland, who founded the Spread Goodness Day effort of volunteerism and giving. six years ago.

This latest effort is called “Bundle UP MQT”, with donations being collected through October 31, with the distribution set of those donations set for November 4th. It’s the fourth year for this event.

“At Bennett Media Group, we’ve been part of this since it began,” organizer Christopher Lemkuil told RRN News. “It’s been an awesome program, seeing the amount of clothes and the quality of clothes, specifically winter clothing, that are bringing in, so people who are less-fortunate can have the essentials that they need to make it through the winter. It’s been an amazing outpouring of generosity.”

Lemkuil says the items can be dropped off at Bennett Media Group on Washington Street (across the street from the Krist Gas Station), or at the Dis N’Dat Thrift Store in Gwinn. The items will be given away on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Sandy Knoll Elementary School, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

“We’re collecting coats, hats, socks, whatever it may be, and specifically, children’s items,” Lemkuil said. “There’s a big need for people keeping not only themselves warm, but they’re whole families warm.”
