Next year, Drop Nineteens returned with Hard Light, their second album since 1993’s National Coma. The Boston shoegaze team is announcing a reprint of their adored debut album Delaware today, as well as a new song called” Nest” and a handle of Lana Del Rey’s music” White Dress.”
” I was obviously later to Lana”, leader Greg Ackell said in a speech. However, I decided to bring this track to the band because it got me and it just wo n’t let go. The group started running through what I had in mind together and the band started to sing along when I suggested covering Lana Del Rey’s” White Dress,” but they were a small sidelined at the time.
About” Nest”, he added:
Initial intentions for” Nest” were to either open or close our song Hard Light. We were unable to locate the right spot for it on the record when we realized we had a better opening and closer. It’s an accurate closer as B- side to” White Dress”, because it’s the the next song Drop Nineteens may be releasing for a while, or maybe actually, because you know, you never know … The languid lyrics make it well suited for this position.
The group also changed the album cover so that instead of a woman holding a weapon, the artwork shows her holding flowers. ckell made this statement regarding the shift:
We made the decision to alter the cover image, moving away from the self-canceling aspect because we simply wo n’t distribute the image of a young person carrying a gun in their hand in the current climate. To be honest, 1992 was a decade before the idea became overstated. We adore the new design on the support of this Delaware renew, and we are happy to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale to the organization Performer For Action To Prevent Gun Violence.
