During the middle of the prom season, Josephine Bloomfield’s mobile telephone frequently explodes with profound texts from students and their parents in the Hudson Valley.
Bloomfield is pleased that she helped give the prom-goers things to use for the big day with each photo, picture, and information. For about 20 years, Bloomfield, her father, Ed, and a group of dedicated individuals have distributed free formal wear, including gowns, suits and trainers and other components, to students.
The annual event completely formalwear function may be held from noon to 4: 30 p. m. on April 7th and 14th at Temple Sinai in Middletown.
” Any scholar and their families are welcome to come to one of the activities”, said Josephine Bloomfield, a native of Howells. We do n’t ask any questions, but we’re happy to help them pick a favorite item. It’s usually amazing when you capture the photos of the students grinning on game night because doing this makes us feel good.
According to Bloomfield, she and her father started collecting formal wear for kids from the Minisink Valley Rotary. For that occasion, the pair collected around 30 clothes and suits. About 600 things were donated in 2023, including fresh components from good retailers, including Macy’s at the Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill.
The Temple Sinai’s Men’s Club, Middletown’s United Presbyterian Church and lots of different individuals are now also part of the event.
” We are straightening up and the enthusiasm is growing,” Bloomfield said. It feels like a store when you walk in, which is a testament to the hard work of our great participants.
