For those of us who work in fashion, is our Super Bowl ( even though the Super Bowl itself occurs simultaneously ). A major function conference/industry reunion/party, whether or Paris, it’s the time to discover and be seen. So the are significant, to say the least. The biggest problem for many of my straight-size colleagues is right: With plenty of samples to product and brand gifts to be given in their sizes, friends have told me they have trouble narrowing down their choices. However, as a woman who wears an 18/20 size, my issue is exactly the opposite, with some fashion-forward items readily available for the yearly event.
A lot of tests are available in, also, sample sizes only. In many cases, there’s also no donating for me, as some halt at a length 10/12. And I ca n’t just pop into any store to shop last minute either, given the lack of brick-and-mortar shopping options for extended sizing. It takes a lot of planning and imagination to pull together a full year of outfits that feel appropriate and appropriate for the occasion. About all I wore had to be ordered online in advance.
The effort required to create amazing, stylish looks don’t be understated, but the pleasure of showing up and displaying body type as someone who has usually been excluded is very rewarding. Away, seven plus- dimension fashion week looks. Let this guide serve as inspiration for your next spring outfit, even if you do n’t attend fashion shows for a living.

Spring Plus- Size Outfit Inspo: Date Night
I’ve been attending New York Fashion Week for more than ten years, so I can say that the start time always comes sooner every year. I started attending fashion shows on Wednesday, so this was my unofficial kickoff outfit since it was n’t until Friday for the first day of NYFW.
With a lace cutout dress, I leaped into the boudoir vibe. I layered it under from NYC custom Tamara Malas ( one of my few powerful clothes money of the year ) to prevent it from being excessively precise. I added a rich orange handbag, dark patent boots with a sculpted heel, and lovely crimson faux fur from the depths of my wardrobe to up the warmth of the color scheme. When strangers stopped me on the street to show me how many they loved my dress, this glance was an utter gift pole.

Spring Plus- Size Outfit Inspo: Job Celebration
I had to take a look for the IMG kick-off board for New York Fashion Week, which was co-created by vous .com beauty producer Danielle James and myself. I was going to get on step, after all, and opposite like diva Ashley Graham, designer and writer Gabriella Kareefa- Johnson, and director of IMG Models Mina White. Needless to say, the self-imposed sartorial pressure was on!
This blue tweed slingback served as my inspiration for my color scheme. I was considering mixing denim when the multi-toneal blue led me to a sleek, dark denim corset top and straight-leg jean set from Warp + Weft with an oversized, light wash denim trench coat from up-and-coming plus size designer Jordie McFarquhar’s label. I enjoyed being able to highlight the work of a young plus-size designer at the panel, as well as the thoughtful details like the oversized grommets, the sharp slits to the waist, and the raw-edged pleated hem set this apart from other more basic denim trenches on the market. I finished the look with a metallic cobalt blue Telfar.

Spring Plus- Size Outfit Inspo: Casual Look
For the official Day 1 of NYFW, which kicked off with the top New York Men’s Day shows, I made the decision to go for a more understated look. Sam Finger, a Brooklyn designer, gave me a reconstructed ribbed tank to start with, which was one of my favorite size-specific presentations of Fashion Week last year. I added a pair of satin cargo pants with wide legs. The fit on these is excellent, though a smidge too long for my 5’4 “frame. I did that by adding my beloved platform sneakers, which also gave the outfit a little athleisure flair.
With this outfit, I had originally planned to wear a full-length, pink-to-purple ombre faux fur, but the unseasonably warm February weather had other plans. Instead, I ended up choosing a deep red faux leather trench from actress and added a vibrant purple Celine bag from Designer Revival in NYC.

Spring Plus- Size Outfit Inspo: Coquette Fashion
I enjoy styling outfits for busy days of Fashion Week and Olivia Cheng’s playful, absurdist aesthetic inspired me to do so. The catalyst was a baby pink patent Mary Jane heel, which immediately sparked the surprisingly strong doll-fashion trend that is still in use. And when I saw this puppy print dress from size-inclusive favorite Selkie, it immediately struck me as the ideal outfit for a delightfully strange doll fashion moment.
Because this dress has a fairly small puff skirt, I purchased lavender opaque tights to add some coverage. The look was finished ( and thank goodness it was another unusually warm day because I had no idea what to wear with this volumizing dress ) with frilly white socks and a mini baguette bag! ).

Spring Plus- Size Outfit Inspo: Red All Over
Nothing more appropriate than the, and Fashion Week is the ideal time to go for it when it comes to looks that might be a little more daring. This is n’t the first time I’ve worn this controversial fad, but it was certainly the most impactful, thanks to the head- to- toe — and on- trend —.
I knew this had to be my no-jeans moment this season when I saw this boxy red satin blazer from Baacal designer Cynthia Vincent. I wanted to wear it with a pair of embellished tap pants, la. I could n’t find a single pair that was even remotely comparable in plus, despite there being plenty of mass-market options for straight sizes. I chose to use bottom coverage instead, and I kept the blazer buttoned up the entire day. The only thing I had to have in my closet was the perfect pair of glasses because I had a sheer red top underneath and red-framed eyeglasses.

Spring Plus- Size Outfit Inspo: Comfortable Neutrals
The two horsehead-themed fringed faux leather jacket was the main attraction of this look. This has been on my wishlist for years, so when it finally came back in stock last year, I snapped it up immediately.
I paired it with a slinky jersey set from plus-owned label Gia IRL for NYFW. The flawless fit of this seamed flowy maxi skirt shows the real life experience of model founder Gia Sinatra. This jersey skirt just skims and flows beautifully, unlike most other jersey skirts in this style, which tend to cling to the sides and flare weirdly under thick thighs. Additionally, I adore that it can be purchased in 30 different sizes. To bring out the neutral tones of the skirt set, I added white croc-embedded combat boots, white cat-eye shades, and a Tom Ford-era YSL bag.

Spring Plus- Size Outfit Inspo: Floral Appliqués & Jeans
One of my favorite designers gave me a romantic look for my final day of shows. This 3D rose-embellished bodysuit could have produced a fantastic no-pants look, but it appeared like NYC finally remembered it was February because the morning had a blizzard. Tights were not going to cut it in those conditions. In the end, I decided to go for a hard- meets- soft look. I enjoyed how the delicate silk satin rose bag and rosette hair bow contrasted with combat boots and slouchy low-slung jeans. I finished it off with a chunky vintage leather jacket, which I got for$ 20.
