A Toronto household is left with nothing more than their returning clothes after a catastrophic fire.
When the fire started in their Toronto Community Housing house in early November, Faustin Ndonga, Elise Kazadi, and five of their 11 kids were at home.
Augustin Ndongo remarked,” I started looking around the house after hearing the dust detection go away. ” My brother ] enters as I started wandering around. He was in the room when he came to us and yelled,” Leave the home, there’s a fire downstairs.”
Faustin, one of the children, was in the room when the fire alarm went off. It was by the machine and boiler when I smelled something burning and turned to look around the corner and only saw flames. It appeared to be a blaze that appeared out of nowhere. It was only intensifying.
The lights were at the doorway as I approached the basement door, but I quickly left the house, Augustin said.
After the flames had subsided, Augustin returned inside to see if anything could be saved. There was nothing left after it was entirely destroyed.
A community album that he had hoped to keep had also been destroyed. Augustine remarked,” Those are memories you could n’t get back at all.”
The family managed to flee uninjured, but they had nothing. They now reside in temporary housing and are aware that it will get them almost a month to make repairs. They need assistance because they lack client coverage to help them recover some of these costs.
Friends and neighbors have banded together to support the Ndongos, and a family friend started GoFundMe, which has already raised more than$ 15 000 of its$ 20 000 goal.
” The neighborhood has been a huge help to us.” Being honest is amazing, Augustin said. ” We want to express our gratitude for them simply being there for us during this trying day.”
It’s a really difficult time we’re going through, but Faustin continued,” We’ll getting it step by step.”
Additionally, they are requesting any gifts of equipment, clothing, and personal products. ” We are beginning from scratch,” Augustine said.
