  • ” We’re always on the same page, so I guess having similar dresses was n’t a surprise to anyone”, McKenzie tells PEOPLE

It was their bridal morning, Saturday, June 8, and McKenzie Ball and Erin Ball were standing back-to-back, holding arms.

The pair, who tied the knot on social media for the first time, had been anticipating this moment.

The couple intentionally kept the details of their clothes a technique from one another before their wedding at Candies Creek Farm in Georgetown, Tennessee. McKenzie, 27, chose her gown from The Ritz in Portsmouth, Ohio—a full-circle time for the neighborhood health manager who had also purchased her graduation and formal dresses from the shop in high school.

However, Erin, 29, bought the second costume she tried on at David’s Bridal in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

When McKenzie first went shopping, she admits she did n’t know what style she wanted, other than that it needed to be fitted. ” Actually, the one I chose was more luxurious than I thought I had get”, McKenzie says.

Before the hunt began, Erin was certain that she wanted a lace-filled, form-fitting dress. ” I had an actual picture in my head”, Erin says. ” I went in without giving a second idea,” said one woman who had just come in and looked round before leaving.

The perfect time for the reveal was suddenly upon them after months of waiting and keeping their outfits a solution. When the pair turned round, both their mouths dropped. Their light, lace dresses were nearly identical.

” I was also trying to process the entire time”, McKenzie tells PEOPLE. We had n’t seen each other all day, and I was hypnotized by the adrenaline. All I remember is Erin yelling,’ That’s my costume!’ I finally realized that they were very, quite similar—the V cut, the fabric, the match, all of it”.

” We’re always on the same page, so I guess having similar dresses was n’t a surprise to anyone”, McKenzie continues. Our girls were only asked to make sure their outfits matched each other, and child did they match!

Erin continues,” I was surprised that we really managed to pick something similar when we went to different outlets in different says because I figured she would’ve gone with a simpler style, no fabric.”

Despite the initial shock, Erin was n’t completely surprised. Over the years, she says, her tone has become more aligned with McKenzie’s.

We consistently and intentionally coordinate our garments, she explains. ” Kenzie ended up changing the costume she previously chose for our bridal shower, which was identical to mine.”

” We always seem to organize and meet without doing anything.” At this point, we really expect it to happen”, McKenzie continues.

The couple’s special reaction video, which Erin shared a month after their wedding, was released. She thought other people would enjoy the video, and she enjoyed sharing the adorable times with her and McKenzie on social media.

It did n’t take long for others to join in on the couple’s excitement. Just a week after posting, the video went viral, surpassing 5.6 million opinions.

” Erin actually did n’t know that she was “popping off on TikTok,” McKenzie says. ” I had to inquire,’ Of what?’ At the time, I did n’t have TikTok, so she was keeping me updated on all the views. She, my mother, and my girlfriend kept sending improvements in our party chat. We were all trembling. It’s a mad experience, knowing that so many people have seen the movie of us”!

We obviously wanted it to be a shock, and it turned out well. Erin adds.
