On the first day of Lollapalooza, Chappell Roan made ripples in a wrestling-inspired swimsuit, her supporters clad in red. But all four times during Chicago’s biggest quarterly music festival, participants make Grant Park their airport.
Fans were decked out in cowboys clothes, crocheted items and glitter. garments were coordinated by friends and couples. On Friday, fans wore K-pop party Stray Kids, one of the more well-known, and Lollapalooza merchandise and group T-shirts. Some made their own clothing.
Caytlyn Cannon, and Morgan Moore, both 23, study trend at Central Michigan University, so they gave tremendous idea to their individual outfits for each of Lollapalooza’s four days, which they planned out and coordinated with each other.
Cannon used fake Dollar Tree flowers to stitch in her skirt while using material from Hobby Lobby. A fabric veil was draped over her hair in an clothing from the online retailer Fashion Nova.

This is Cannon and Moore’s next day at Lollapalooza, but they said trend has changed a bit since they last went in 2019.
” Next time, we were wearing cotton jean short”, Cannon laughed. People “feel like they want to put a lot more work in,” I believe. I’ve seen the craziest gadgets”.
For Isaac and Cassie Langreck, 30 and 28 both, Lollapalooza was an excuse to make a several payments.
Isaac now had his flamingo-printed shirt in his wardrobe before last weekend when he discovered the matching pair of shorts at clothing retailer Marshalls.
Although she initially walked on the streets of Chicago in what she calls a” Pokemon outfit,” Cassie realized it was n’t appropriate for the climate. She changed into a rainbow coast, bright sunglasses, black clothing and denim pants with sequined fabric pants underneath. The last two items, which she particularly purchased from Shein, were for the festival.
The married couple from Wisconsin, who have been to Lollapalooza many times in recent years, also said that Lollapalooza has changed in terms of style.
” I feel like ( Lollapalooza in the past ) was more over comfort, and Coachella was more of a vibe for people to dress up differently”, Cassie said. However, I’ve seen more and more people trying to kind of leave their comfort zones over the past few years.
” This is a good way for people to be more dangerous and kind of test the waters and just have fun,” Isaac continued.
Major music festivals like Governors Ball in New York City and Lollapalooza have become a cliche for putting up social media-worthy clothes. Attendees have taken to Instagram this year to poll their followers about their outfit choices, just like in years past, or lamented on Twitter that they did n’t make outfit plans in advance.
The Langrecks have, however, often been event-ready. Cassie described how in 2018, Isaac dressed up in an inflatable Reptar costume, from the television show” Rugrats”.
” It was passion that only lasted a few time”, Cassie laughed. ” And then it busted empty”.
Audrey Koopmans, age 20, has an ongoing musical history that includes clothing. The Long Beach, California indigenous and community college student says she hangs a stack of handmade beaded jewelry on each finger to hand out to strangers who she meets when she attends music or music celebrations. She uses beads that friends have given her to adorn one arm.
The bracelet-making history stemmed from a pastime Koopmans took up during COVID-19, when the epidemic confined all kinds of in-person interpersonal relationships.
” I may email them to persons – buddies, online friends”, Koopmans said, describing how she’s kept up the practice.
Koopmans donned jeans, a embroidered top, and a weapon connect with a scorpion on it to complete her embroidered look for Lollapalooza’s next day.
Though Koopmans is a typical concert-goer, this is her first day at Lollapalooza, and she brought her girl and baby along.
” It’s kind of nice that she’s coming”, Koopmans said of her mother. ” She likes staying young”.
And, for Koopmans, these views are all about the area.
” I’m a nice gift-giver”, Koopmans said, adding that she gave out over 30 beads to other festival-goers yesterday. ” It’s just fun to reveal”.
